As someone who loves soaking up the rays (safely, of course!), I’ve tested my fair share of sunscreens to find the perfect blend of protection and comfort. Finding the perfect healthy sunscreen can be overwhelming with the amount of products on the market. After trying what feels like everything, today, I’m sharing my top picks for sunscreens that keep me glowing without the burn. (I’ve also included some kid faves, for my fellow mommas out there)
One / / Two / / Three / / Four / / Five / / Six / / Seven / / Eight + Eight
This Tik Tok fave is worth the hype and delivers as promised but if you’re like me and need something with some tint for those pool days or “no makeup” days then I highly recommend the Australian Gold tinted sunscreen or the infamous Colorescience Flex face shield.
The Australian Gold sunscreen gives light coverage and a beautiful glow but just comes in light, medium, and dark shades, meaning it’s not going to be a perfect match but will deliver that sun-kissed glow. The Colorescience Flex, however, will change color to match your skin tone and gives more coverage, if that’s your thing. It’s so light on the skin you barely feel anything and is my go-to pool day sunscreen.
U.S. sunscreens suck and are not nearly as good as sunscreen you can find overseas. But they can be hard to find and get access too making things difficult. Recently, we have been loving this body sunscreen and have had really good results. It goes on well, stays on, and we’ve had no sunburns this season so far. I recommend rubbing it between your hands first and then smoothing it all over.
My daily motto is: Sun out, hat on! I almost always wear a hat in the summer, if I am outdoors, and used to be famous for my sun hat-wearing ways at my son’s baseball games. (if you know you know) I now pass that on to my kids and emphasize the importance of protecting their heads and faces. I love a good sun hat, there are so many styles and colors and you can just make any outfit or pool day look fabulous. This year I grabbed these for the kids so they can wear them in the pool and get all the protection they need. We combine with rash guard shirts and voila! I feel better about allowing them to spend lots of time in the sun in the summer.
Lastly, if you do get a little crispy, I swear by this aloe vera and lavender essential oil elixir. Just put a good amount of aloe vera into your palm and then drop 2-3 drops of the oil in there, mix it together, and rub on the burn. I swear it eliminates the pain and the burn is cleared up within 24 hours. It’s amazing.
Now you can soak up the summer sun AND keep your skin protected and nourished. Whether you’re lounging by the pool or chasing little ones at the park, these SPF essentials have got you covered. Here’s to glowing skin and endless summer adventures!
